This study deals with scenario of an acquisition by the Accor group of hotels and services of the American hotel chain Motel6. This case study highlights the motivations behind a strategic acquisition, of the various difficulties that may arise before any actions that can accompany this change in terms of both the buyer (ACCOR) and that of the company purchased (Motel6). We will analyze how this acquisition may represent a strategic advantage for Accor Group, and introduce a set of recommendations for the proper conduct thereof.
Accor is one of the leading European hospitality group that operates in the tourism industry , as well as in business services throughout the world. This group exists in nearly 100 countries with over 150,000 employees. Accor concentrates mainly in two areas: hotels and services.
