For the purpose of this comment, I picked different elements depending on my personal interests especially on management issues and how it is possible to bring people from different cultures, with different expectations and ways of communicating things to work together in the same project, with similar goals. I strongly believe that management cannot completely be effective against people will, and that including work and projects into the personal development of people working on it.
[...] First, the MIT study in collective intelligence (cci.mit.edu), the video called "the fish philosophy" about habppiness at work and engagement. Last but not least, I chose to see the movie called the overview effect which deals with the fact that, especially thanks to the space conquest, humans start to realise the finitude of their world and, as a consequence, their capacity to impact this limited space. All of those articles are, i think, related one with another. In fact, they all deal with a certain vision of society, happiness and personal responsibilty. [...]
[...] AS a matter of fact, the relation between happiness and capacity to buy decreases when people earn more than a certain amount of money The movie called the overview was an interesting introduction, because it helps us to see what are the possibilities to make people not only understand but also to feel how fragile and limited is our planet and how strong can be the impact of human's activities and how essential it is to act in order to protect it. It enhanced the feeling that we are, individually but also as a specie, a manifestation of nature, and part of the planet earth. It is a movie especially designed to move spectators more than to really meke them think. [...]
[...] I also like the fact that this "fish philosophy" underlines the importance of social interaction in order to promote a different vision of happiness and motivation. In conclusion, I would say that those three articles were interesting, each and everyone of them in their own way. In fact, despite of some flaws, they can all be used in order to find some clues on how to organise and how to promote a safest and more sustainable way of life, without having to be too extreme in the changes we are offering to people. [...]
[...] Despite of that aspect, I truly believe that intelligence comes from both reflexion and emotion, so movies like that are important. The article of Massachusets Institute of Technology is especially interesting in that perspective because it improves our understanding on how we can use all possible capacities in the world, including people and machines, to design the most effective process as possible. I believe in human intelligence and in the fact that every culture has something to bring to the way we see things and to the way we can solve environmental issues. [...]
[...] Those contest include a large number of fields like carbon pricing (economy), buildings (architecture), shifting attitude and behaviours (microeconomy and psychology). I especially enjoy the fact that it mixes different people and sciences and uses every available expertise. At first, I picked the article about the fish philosophy, in order to undertsand better what in work can make people happy and to develop the highest levels of the Maslow Pyramid which, i believe, can decrease the level of unecessary consumption, and therefore, unecessary pollution and use of natural ressources.
