Hello everyone, my name is...and in today's video presentation, I will focus on a strategic priority from the Lifespan Healthcare Nursing Department strategic plan. Successful strategic planning is essential for organizational success as it provides direction and ensures quality care, the best patient outcomes, and experiences (Lal, 2020). Strategic planning helps analyze the organization's current position and identify strengths and areas for improvement. This helps in creating strategic priorities to help in attaining strategic goals.
[...] The department needs to understand the communication breakdowns and challenges providers and patients face with the system to facilitate change. The next step is implementing change where the healthcare team processes and implements the changes including redesigning roles and training the providers. The last step is refreezing which entails the establishment of the change as a norm an realign practices to sustain the change. The communication guidelines and processes would be sustained to improve care delivery and patient experiences. The inbox-related workloads contribute to burnout poor communication with patients and reduced satisfaction levels. According to Tai-Seale et al. (2023), an increase of about 10 messages to a physician increases the likelihood of burnout and reduced quality of care by 40%. As a result, there is a need to address inbox management by using an optimized inbox system to improve communication and patient care by ensuring prioritizing of messages and address unnecessary communications so that some patient messages are not left out contributing to the poor experiences.
