Groupthink is essential to productivity in the workplace. By implementing workgroups or a team building conducive atmosphere, the simple brainstorming one person would do on his own can blossom into new, innovative ideas that can be achieved only by working together. When a team is first introduced to one another, it is important to address their specific expectations and goals. This can easily be done by creating a charter. A charter is an agreed upon document created and implemented to explain the requirements and structure of a project or organization. By having a charter, all people involved will understand their specific duties and the goals for everyone involved. In addition, and often most important, it also aims to avoid confrontations or problems that could arise because of members' differences.
