PR is important to a company as it helps to establish a relationship of trust with the press and ensures the distribution of information favorable to a company. Journalism is a profession that is fast changing due to the development of the electronic media. The opportunities in the field are increasing and opening up opportunities for established players. Trade Unions have come into play and there is a lot of scope for freelancers. Companies believe that journalists pursue sensationalism and do not focus on the technicalities of news. They distort information at will and are sometimes irresponsible in their reporting.
