The film The America's: In Women's Hands provides a look into Chilean politics and the role women played in political transitions and regimes. In Chile, tradition and the Catholic Church defined women's role in society and the home; thus, Chilean women's politics have been motivated by women's positions as wives, mothers, and caretakers. Women's roles have also been influenced by Chile's transitions from socialism to authoritarianism and finally to democracy.
